Stephen King’s second novel, the classic vampire bestseller ’SALEM’S LOT, tells the story of evil in small-town America. For the first time in a major trade edition, this terrifying novel is accompanied by previously unpublished material from King’s archive, two short stories, and eerie photographs that bring King’s fictional darkness and evil to vivid life.

When Stephen King’s classic thriller’SALEM’S LOT hit the stands in 1975, it thrilled and terrified millions of readers with tales of demonic evil in small-town America. Now, thirty years later and still scaring readers witless, ’SALEM’S LOT reemerges in a brilliant new edition, complete with photographs, fifty pages of deleted and alternate scenes, and two short stories related to the events of the novel.

While the original edition of ’SALEM’S LOT will forever be a premier horror classic, ’SALEM’S LOT: ILLUSTRATED EDITION, with the inclusion of material from King’s archive, is destined to become a classic in its own right and a must-have for all Stephen King fans. In this edition, the hair-raising story of Jerusalem’s Lot, a small town in Maine whose inhabitants succumb to the evil allure of a new resident, is told as the author envisioned it, complete with fifty pages of alternate and deleted scenes. With a new introduction by the author, two short stories related to the events and residents of Jerusalem’s Lot, the lavishly creepy photographs of Jerry Uelsmann, and a stunning new page design, this edition brings the story to life in words and pictures as never before.

No library will be complete without this ideal collector’s item for any King aficionado, the definitive illustrated edition of the great ’SALEM’S LOT.

Excellent Book!

This book is absolutely thrilling. Once you’re hooked you can’t put it down!

In my honest opinion...

‘Salem’s Lot is the best book by Stephen King. I loved the books “The Stand”, “The Shining”, and “It”, but I really love ‘Salem’s Lot. I think that this take on the Dracula/vampire story is the best out of any that I’ve seen. The characters in this book are so perfectly written. The unassuming hero, his young sidekick, the fallen priest, the small town sheriff, they are all perfectly written. I can’t write, but even if I were the greatest author ever, I don’t think that I could possibly write a better version of, let alone any novel, better than The Lot! Thank you Stephen King. When I think of the most terrifying vampire of all time, I don’t think of Dracula, I think if Kurt Barlow!

Good, but not my favorite

It was worth a read, but not my favorite King novel.

The best vampire novel since Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Sleepless nights

This was his first book that I read lo those many years ago. I was about 32 y/o. I finished it at 2 in the morning and spent the rest of the night in the dark listening for noises.

Amazing

This books got me through the boredom. It is well written. An amazing story to read.

Breath taking (literally)

My review will be short but sweet. Along w many other works of King, I've had the "pleasure" of reading this book several times throughout my life. I've read non fictional horror and fictional horror the most. This is the only book...ever...that has quite literally, given me nightmares. It's top quality King and it is VERY well worth the read.

Easily Within my Top 2 Stephen King Books

Superb combination of great storyline and memorable characters...one of Kings best works!

Great Book, Terrible Formatting

Why are there spaces between each paragraph on some eBooks? I know when a paragraph ends and a new one begins without having unnecessary and distracting spaces between every single paragraph! Especially frustrating during dialogue.

CopperBlue77

Mr Barlow will enjoy you too...

Still remember the sweats reading this in a summertime bedroom in my teen years and it's still scary all these years later. Thank you Mr King for sparking my desire to read!

Goodienbf

Not scary at all

After reading the reviews of other fellow readers, I downloaded this book thinking that it would be one of the scariest books one could ever put their hands on...I was really disappointed. Slow for the first half and, in my opinion, in terms of fright level on a scale of 10, where the movie "The Ring" or "The Grudge" would be 9, this would only be 4. If you are into horror movies and are curious about this book, I'd say save your time and watch the movie version of it. This book is over 1,200 pages on the iPad horizontally.

Very good book!

I love vampire stories, and this was a good one.

Salem's Lot

Having read this work first at twelve, then every eight to ten years hence--this last being at age forty-two, my reaction only grows stronger. With detailed character and story development, I regard Salem's Lot as a piece of valuable literature. With King's ability to reach deep into the recesses of the mind and extrude my deepest fears, I find myself forever twelve--clutching a crudely-constructed Popsicle stick crucifix as I vainly attempt to find sleep after finishing the last chapter of the night.

Iommiage

Pretty Good

Overall, the book was pretty good. My only small complaint would be the unrealisticaly witty characters which causes the dialogue to fall flat at times.

Guitarded1970

Classic

Classic Stephen King. Like a modern day Dracula.

Stephen King does it again!

Stephen King yet again, almost to be expected at this point, has written another phenomenal tale soon to be considered another King Classic. The book keeps you on the edge of your seat and acts as another page-turner, keeping me up at night, missing deadlines, and of course, longer bathroom breaks. King has now surreptitiously overtaken Michael Cricthon's spot as my favorite author. Can't wait for the next of King's works to read.

Pretty good book

I'd read Stephen King before I picked up this book. When you think of Stephen King, you think of a great fast paced story that has characters that you either love or hate. Now this book had most of that. But the first thirty percent is just SO slow. I was waiting for someone to get torn up by some vampires. But as always Mr. King, you don't disappoint when it comes to the climax. I guessed at every turn and was surprised by the ending. The ending you should have cut out because it had no point. But, all things considered, a great book Mr. King, excellent literature.
